Cottesmore is now home to the Army's East of England Multi-Role Brigade. Formerly an RAF station and the core component of Joint Force Harrier, Cottesmore became a satellite of RAF Wittering on April 1, 2011. In April 2012 it was renamed Kendrew Barracks after Major General Sir Douglas Kendrew.
Cottesmore is located in Rutland, the smallest county in England, measuring only 16 miles by 16 miles, and situated at the heart of the UK, between Leicester and Peterborough. The county has 2 historic market towns, Oakham and Uppingham. Oakham is the nearest town, packed full of historic buildings, interesting landmarks and stylish shops.
